Wire Backed Silt Fence

Wire Backed Silt Fence

A wire backed silt fence, made of permeable geotextile fabric, intercepts sediment-laden runoff, reducing slope length and retaining soil. It's vital for erosion control on disturbed soil areas.
T Post

T Post

T posts, crafted from rail steel, secure fences firmly with their large anchor plates, providing durability and stability in the ground.
Safety Fence

Safety Fence

Safety Fence, made from durable polyethylene, ensures toughness, rot resistance, and lightweight portability, ideal for construction site safety barriers.
Welded Mesh Panel

Welded Mesh Panel

Welded mesh panels, available in various wire materials like galvanized or stainless steel, offer customization in size, aperture, and thickness, providing versatile fencing solutions for different needs.
Welded Mesh

Welded Mesh

Welded wire mesh, composed of intersecting steel wires, forms a grid-like structure suitable for various applications, offering strength and customization options in thickness and gauge.
Silt Fence Installation

Silt Fence Installation

  1. Site Preparation:

Identify the areas where sediment control is needed, typically along slopes, around construction sites, and near water bodies.

Clear the installation path of debris and vegetation.

  2. Positioning the Fence:

Unroll the silt fence fabric along the marked path.

Ensure the fabric faces the flow of sediment.

  3. Securing with T Posts:

Drive T posts into the ground at regular intervals (6-8 feet apart) along the path.

Attach the silt fence fabric to the posts using zip ties or clips, ensuring it is taut and secure.

  4. Trenching and Backfilling:

Dig a trench (6 inches deep) along the bottom edge of the fabric.

Bury the lower part of the fabric in the trench and backfill with soil to anchor it.

  5. Final Checks:

Inspect the fence for any gaps or loose sections.

Ensure the fence is continuous and effectively blocks sediment flow.

Silt Fence Material

Silt fence materials are crucial for effective erosion control and sediment management in construction and landscaping projects. The primary components include:

  • Fabric: The fabric is typically made of woven or non-woven geotextile material, designed to trap sediment while allowing water to pass through. It comes in rolls of various widths and lengths to accommodate different project requirements.

  • Support Posts: T posts or wooden stakes are used to secure the fabric in place along the installation path. These posts provide stability and prevent the fence from collapsing under sediment pressure.

  • Fasteners: Zip ties, clips, or staples are used to attach the fabric to the support posts, ensuring a secure installation.

  • Optional Accessories: Optional accessories such as wire backing or welded mesh panels may be used to enhance the fence's stability and durability, especially in high-flow or high-wind areas.
